Fairfax man charged with false pretenses in online housing scam

FAIRFAX — Vermont State Police have cited a Richford man for allegedly defrauding a Fairfax woman in an online housing scam.

Authorities say Ronald Smith, 35, obtained money through Cash App from 37-year-old Ashley Boomhower after promising housing that he never provided.

The incident was reported on March 13 at 4:15 p.m.

Smith has been ordered to appear in Franklin County Superior Court on June 17 at 1 p.m. to face charges of false pretenses.
