LONDONDERRY — A driver is in critical condition following a high-speed crash on Interstate 93 southbound in Londonderry yesterday at 6:56 p.m., New Hampshire State Police reported.
The crash involved a single vehicle, a 2006 Infiniti G35, which was reportedly traveling at a high rate of speed before the driver lost control.
The car skidded across all lanes and plummeted down an embankment, striking multiple trees.
Emergency responders from the Londonderry Fire Department worked tirelessly to free the driver, who was trapped inside the wreckage for about 90 minutes.
Once extricated, the driver, identified as 25-year-old Justin Landry of Manchester, was airlifted to Lahey Hospital & Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.
During the rescue operation, the southbound section of I-93 was closed to facilitate the medical helicopter’s landing and departure, reopening after about an hour.
