1 min read

CENTER HARBOR — Firefighters from Center Harbor Fire Department responded to a smoke report from the Red Hill fire tower yesterday afternoon, discovering a tree downed on power lines on Forbes Road that sparked a brush fire approximately 20 feet by 50 feet.

Upon arrival, the fire crew assessed the situation and found the downed tree had ignited the surrounding brush.

The fire posed a potential threat due to the day’s high fire danger rating and weather conditions conducive to wildfires.

Quick action was required to prevent the incident from escalating.

Center Harbor requested mutual aid from neighboring Moultonborough Fire Rescue and Sandwich to help contain and extinguish the blaze.

The collaborative efforts of the fire departments, along with support from the volunteer crews of the Red Hill fire tower and Center Harbor Police, were instrumental in halting the fire’s spread.

The brush fire was successfully extinguished before it could cause any significant damage to the area.
