HOOKSETT — A Hooksett man was arrested on felony animal cruelty charges after he allegedly hit and killed a cat, police said Tuesday.
Felix Perez, 30, was taken into custody Monday around 1:44 p.m. after officers responded to a call at a residence on Mammoth Road.
According to Hooksett Police, two individuals reported that Perez claimed to have been bitten by the cat while trying to clean it.
In response, Perez allegedly struck the cat, which was later found by a witness with blood around its mouth and unable to control all of its legs.
The animal was dead by the time officers arrived.
Following an investigation and discussion with Perez, police found probable cause to arrest him.
Perez sought a bail commissioner but was held on preventive detention.
He is scheduled to be arraigned before a judge on Tuesday.
