SOUTHINGTON — A 40-year-old man was arrested Monday morning in connection with a robbery at a local gas station the previous night, authorities said.
Gregory West of Plainville is accused of robbing the Fleet Gas Station at 1611 Meriden Waterbury Turnpike around 9:59 p.m. Sunday, according to the Southington Police Department.
Officers who responded to the scene were told by the clerk that a man had entered the store, demanded the cash register drawer and threatened to harm the clerk when initially refused.
The clerk complied, and the suspect fled with an undisclosed amount of cash in a vehicle caught on surveillance video.
The department’s FLOCK system helped police identify the vehicle’s license plate, which was registered to a rental car and led them to West, a suspect previously arrested in 2016 for a robbery at the same gas station.
West was taken into custody near his residence at approximately 10:30 a.m. Monday and charged with third-degree robbery and sixth-degree larceny.
He was held on a $350,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in New Britain Superior Court on April 23.
