WEATHERSFIELD — Vermont State Police have charged a 27-year-old New Hampshire woman with cruelty to a child and domestic assault following an investigation into a report of child neglect in Windsor County.
Authorities were notified of the neglect in the Town of Weathersfield.
The investigation determined that Rachelle M. Shafer, from Newport, New Hampshire, neglected a child and caused bodily injury.
Shafer has been cited to appear before the Vermont Superior Court, Windsor Criminal Division, to respond to the charges.
The Vermont State Police have not released the name of the victim, in line with their policy on cases of sexual assault or domestic violence.
