NASHUA — A high-speed police chase early Sunday morning ended in a fatal crash after a vehicle attempted to flee from officers responding to an assault at a local hotel.
At approximately 1:40 a.m., Nashua Police were called to the Residence Inn by Marriott at 25 Trafalgar Square following reports of an assault involving a knife.
As they approached the scene, a black Nissan Altima was seen driving on the wrong side of Somerset Parkway directly towards the responding officers.
The vehicle quickly crossed over the median to evade the police car, turning off its lights and speeding away into the night.
Officers turned around to pursue the fleeing car, which soon after crashed in the parking lot of 402 Amherst Street.
The impact of the crash ejected both occupants of the vehicle.
The passenger, a 23-year-old female, was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital.
The driver, also 23, was airlifted to a Boston-area hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Nashua Police have stated that an update will be provided as more information becomes available.
