Jay man charged with reckless endangerment after discharging firearm near motorist

JAY — A Jay man has been cited for reckless endangerment after allegedly firing a pistol near a motorist on North Jay Rd on Saturday.

At around 1:20 p.m., the Vermont State Police received a call from Danny Gosselin, 34, of North Troy, who reported that while traveling on North Jay Road, a male later identified as Benjamin Zev, 56, of Jay, had shot a pistol in a reckless manner near him.

Troopers, along with Vermont Fish and Game Wardens and Orleans County Sheriff Deputies, responded to the area.

After an investigation, Zev was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Vermont State Police Derby Barracks for processing.

Zev was later released on a citation to appear in court on charges of reckless endangerment.

No injuries were reported in the incident.
