DUXBURY — A local man has been arrested and charged with multiple offenses, including larceny by false pretense and operating as an unlicensed contractor, after allegedly scamming a resident out of $900, Duxbury police reported.
The case began on Jan. 12 when Officer Michelle McDonnell received a complaint from a homeowner who had been defrauded by Michael Temple, the owner of Associated Contractor Services.
According to the resident, Temple had been paid a $900 deposit to carry out repair work on their property but failed to start the work or refund the deposit.
Despite initially promising to return the money, Temple never followed through.
Detective John Mann, who investigated the case, charged Temple with larceny by false pretense and for operating without a contractor’s license.
Upon further investigation, it was revealed that Temple had two additional outstanding warrants for similar charges.
On April 18, a team comprising Detective Mann, Detective Rob Flynn, and Officer McDonnell apprehended Temple in Duxbury as he was known to be in the area.
Temple is now facing charges for the outstanding warrants, which include larceny by false pretense, being an unlicensed home contractor, and operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license.
