BERWICK — Following a two-month investigation into illegal drug trafficking, the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency, in collaboration with Berwick Police Department, announced the arrests of nine individuals after executing a search and arrest warrants at a residence in Berwick on Thursday.
The individuals apprehended in the raid at 19 Katabel Lane are facing various drug-related charges, with bail amounts ranging from $100 to no bail for repeat offenses.
The operation revealed substantial quantities of fentanyl and methamphetamine, with an estimated street value of $15,000.
Berwick Police Chief Timothy Towne and MDEA Commander Scott Pelletier confirmed the operation, which stemmed from community complaints and a string of disturbances at the residence, including a suspected homicide in January.
Undercover agents successfully purchased narcotics from several of the accused before the raid.
Supported by the Maine State Police Tactical Team, law enforcement safely entered the property at around 6:30 a.m., detaining 18 people, and seizing drugs, scales, and paraphernalia linked to drug trafficking.
The nine arrested individuals were taken to York County Jail, while others present were released without charges.
With the investigation ongoing, authorities anticipate further arrests.
