GREENSBORO — An online auction to raise funds for children’s medical relief in Gaza opened Wednesday, with items ranging from a night in the Stone City Treehouse to a Vermont bootjack from Wild Acres Farm.

The auction, hosted at www.32auctions.com/GazaChildrensAid, will continue until May 3 at 8 p.m. All proceeds are earmarked for the Palestine Children’s Relief Fund and Medical Aid for Palestinians.

The initiative was inspired by a mid-January community forum in Greensboro that featured Palestinian-American world health expert Hamed Bakir and Jason Hirsh, an organizer with Jewish Voice for Peace.

The forum discussed the impacts of the Holocaust, the ongoing occupation of Palestine, and the current crisis in Gaza.

Further support for the cause will be shown during a celebration of Palestinian culture and resilience on May 4, from noon to 4 p.m., at the Greensboro United Church of Christ. The event will feature Palestinian finger foods, music, cultural displays, and speeches by Bakir and Hirsh at 2 p.m.
