NASHUA — An 18-year-old from Lowell, Massachusetts, was arrested Wednesday in connection with the armed robbery of a postal carrier, according to the Nashua Police Department.
Baraka Janvier, of 90 White Street, is charged with a Class A felony for allegedly robbing a United States Postal Service worker at gunpoint on Tuesday.
The incident, which occurred on Blacksmith Way, prompted an immediate police response after the victim reported being held up for their postal keys, providing access to mail dispensers throughout Nashua.
Police, with assistance from witnesses and video surveillance, launched an investigation led by Nashua’s Criminal Investigation Division, USPS Special Agents, and the Lowell Police Department.
The collaborative effort resulted in the identification of Janvier and the vehicle used during the crime, which was located in Lowell.
Janvier was taken into custody and is being held at the Hillsborough County House of Corrections on preventative detention.
He is scheduled to appear in the 9th Circuit – District Division – Nashua Court on April 18 at 1 p.m.
The investigation is ongoing, and no further arrests have been reported at this time.
