LEBANON — Deputies from the York County Sheriff’s Office are calling on the public to help identify a good Samaritan who rescued a driver from a burning vehicle last night on Long Swamp Road.
According to officials, around 10:30 p.m., a vehicle veered off the road and collided with a tree.
The accident resulted in the car catching fire with the driver trapped inside.
Deputies and emergency services were dispatched to the scene following reports of the accident.
Upon arrival, first responders found the vehicle engulfed in flames; however, the driver had already been pulled to safety and was receiving medical aid.
The injured driver was later transported to a local hospital for further treatment.
Witnesses at the scene informed deputies that an unknown passerby had bravely extracted the driver from the fiery wreck but left the scene before authorities could arrive.
None of the witnesses were able to provide a description or identity of the individual who stepped in to help.
The York County Sheriff’s Office is now appealing to the community for assistance in locating and recognizing the courageous person who likely saved the driver’s life.
They are urging anyone with information about the incident or the good Samaritan to come forward and contact the Sheriff’s Office directly.
