Lake Region track teams shine at regional meet

NEWPORT — Lake Region High School’s track and field teams showcased their athletic prowess at a recent regional meet, with the girls’ team securing a third-place finish and the boys’ team placing fifth despite missing several members who were on spring break.

Highlighting the event, Luc Oliver claimed the top spot in the long jump, while Maeda Urie dominated the 300 hurdles. Sylvie Brownlow and Madison Bowman also stood out, winning the shot put and discus events, respectively.

In addition to these victories, the school saw a series of second-place finishes. Ethan Gratton Derbyshire made a strong showing in the 300 hurdles, and Bella Hanover excelled in both the 100-meter dash and long jump.

Bailey Danaher reached the runner-up position in the high jump, and the girls’ 4×100 relay team, composed of Ade Schneider, Alayna Azur, Madison Bowman, and Bella Hanover, also secured second place.

Luc Oliver continued to impress with third-place finishes in both the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes, and Sylvie Brownlow added a third-place finish in the pole vault, rounding out a successful day for Lake Region.
