OAK BLUFFS — A Ford pickup truck that plunged into the ocean during a police pursuit on April 11 was successfully recovered Saturday morning by a collaboration of local teams.
At approximately 9 a.m. today, crews from JWL Transport, Packer Marine, and the Oak Bluffs Fire-EMS Department Dive Team worked in unison to haul the submerged vehicle from the waters near the Oak Bluffs Steamship Authority pier.
The retrieval operation followed an incident where the truck drove into the ocean amid a police chase, according to the Oak Bluffs Police Department.
Authorities have not yet released further details on the circumstances leading to the chase or the condition of the driver at the time of the recovery.
The Oak Bluffs Police Department is expected to provide additional information on the investigation in the coming days.
