ENFIELD — After receiving a complaint early Monday morning, Enfield Police apprehended Jovanny Berrios, a Springfield, MA resident, following a shooting incident at a local Red Roof Inn.
At approximately 2:15 a.m., the Enfield Police Department responded to a call indicating that an unidentified male had discharged a firearm at the caller after a verbal altercation at the hotel located at 11 Hazard Ave.
Officers in the vicinity spotted and detained two individuals fleeing the scene.
During the arrest, a loaded 9mm “ghost gun,” a firearm without a serial number, was found on Berrios, who was celebrating his 20th birthday.
He was taken into custody after a brief confrontation with law enforcement.
Berrios faces multiple charges, including criminal attempt to commit assault in the first degree, criminal use of a weapon, possession of a weapon without a serial number, carrying a pistol without a permit, illegal possession of a large capacity magazine, possession of an assault weapon, unlawful discharge of a firearm, reckless endangerment in the first degree, interfering with an officer, and breach of peace in the second degree.
Berrios is being held on a $1 million bond and is expected to appear before GA 14 in Hartford for arraignment on April 16.
