ENOSBURG — A 16-year-old New York City boy wanted for homicide was captured by law enforcement officials in Enosburg on April 12, following a coordinated effort between the U.S. Marshals Service and Vermont State Police.

The juvenile, whose name has not been released due to his age, was the subject of a federal manhunt on charges of juvenile delinquency and unlawful flight to avoid prosecution.

The charges stem from a New York warrant related to a homicide case.

The operation to locate the youth began early Friday morning when special agents and state troopers received information that the suspect was hiding out in a residence on Howard Road.

The Vermont State Police Tactical Services Unit, along with the Vermont Fish and Wildlife and the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, provided additional support in the apprehension.

The fugitive was taken into custody without incident at around 4:30 p.m. and was initially held at the Marble Valley Regional Correctional Facility in Rutland without bail.

He was transferred to state custody on April 15 to face extradition to New York, where he is charged with second-degree murder.

A video arraignment is scheduled for the accused at 1 p.m. on Monday, April 15, in the Criminal Division of Vermont Superior Court in St. Albans, where proceedings for his extradition will begin.
