NEWPORT — Small businesses in the Designated Newport City Downtown district can now access grants for a range of technical assistance services through an award from the USDA-RD Rural Business Development Grant Program to Newport Downtown Development.

The grant will cover costs up to 100 percent for services including website design, electronic payment processing, marketing strategies, feasibility studies, and more. Eligibility is limited to small businesses with a maximum of 50 employees and less than $1 million in gross profit.

The Northern Community Investment Capital (NCIC) is tasked with managing the grant funds and assisting local businesses in the application process. Business owners are required to submit a plan and financial details, and describe how the project will enhance their operations and employment opportunities.

Upon approval, businesses will be supported by NCIC in obtaining at least three competitive proposals for the services needed. NCIC will also facilitate the creation of consulting service contracts with chosen firms.

Interested businesses should contact Aimee Quimby, Business Programs Administrator, NCIC at (802) 748-5101, ext. 2019 or at [email protected].
