EVERETT — In the waning light of early evening yesterday, Officers Palermo and Gallagher of the Everett Police Department stumbled upon a group of four males littering on Main Street, an encounter that led to the unexpected recovery of a loaded firearm from a 16-year-old.
The officers, who were on routine patrol, initially set out to advise the young individuals to clean up their trash.
However, the situation escalated when they discovered one of the teens unlawfully in possession of the weapon.
This incident marks the second time in two weeks that Everett police have seized a firearm from people prohibited from having them.
The department is conducting further investigations into how the teenager acquired the gun and whether the incident is connected to any other criminal activities in the area.
