SPRINGFIELD — An inmate at the Southern State Correctional Facility has been cited for assaulting a correctional officer, authorities said Tuesday.
Vermont State Police reported that Herbert E. Fagans III, 38, attacked Officer David Drasher, 32, on March 19.
The incident was promptly investigated, leading to Fagans being issued a citation to appear in Windsor County Superior Court on May 7 at 8 a.m.
Fagans, a resident of Springfield, remains in custody at the correctional facility where the assault occurred.
Additional details regarding the circumstances of the attack have not been released.
The Department of Corrections and the Vermont State Police are continuing their investigation into the matter.
