The Vermont Rail System train, traveling north, first collided with a parked Toyota Prius, impacting its passenger side mirror. Subsequently, the train hit a Ford Explorer, with a 68-year-old woman from Fresh Meadows, NY, who was inside the vehicle at the time of the incident.

The impact on the Explorer’s front passenger side caused it to move back 5-10 feet, colliding with a parked Jeep Wagoneer, damaging its grill and bumper.

The woman in the Explorer sustained minor injuries and was transported to North Country Hospital. The other vehicles involved were a parked Jeep Wagoneer, a 2022 model, and a 2011 Toyota Prius.

Additionally, the 1969 GT38-3 Locomotive, operated by Colby Miles, 31, of Keene, NH, sustained minor front-end damage.

Authorities determined the cause of the crash was due to vehicles being parked too close to the railroad tracks. A Vermont Civil Violation Complaint has been filed in relation to the incident.

Investigations are ongoing, and further details will be provided as they become available.
