York County deputies seize over 53 grams of fentanyl in traffic stop

1 min read

SANFORD — A routine traffic stop led to the discovery of a significant amount of the deadly drug fentanyl late last night near the Sanford / Alfred line, according to the York County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputy Alex Markellos pulled over a vehicle around 10:30 p.m. for driving without headlights or taillights.

The driver, identified as 46-year-old Jason Mowry, and passenger, 57-year-old Kellie Littlefield, were both previously involved in a narcotics investigation.

Littlefield had been arrested for Unlawful Possession of a Scheduled W Drug, a felony charge.

Upon initiating the stop, Deputy Markellos called for backup from Deputy Frazier and K9 Rebel to conduct an exterior sniff of the vehicle.

K9 Rebel indicated the presence of narcotics, leading to a search that revealed 4.3 grams of fentanyl in the area where Mowry was seated.

A subsequent search of Littlefield’s person uncovered an additional 48.9 grams of fentanyl.

The total amount seized from the vehicle and Littlefield was 53.2 grams.

Given that a 2 mg dose of fentanyl can be potentially lethal, the quantity of drugs found is particularly alarming.

Littlefield is facing charges of Aggravated Trafficking Unlawful Scheduled Drugs (Class A Felony) and two counts of Violation of Conditions of Release (Class E).

She has been denied bail and is set for arraignment tomorrow.

Mowry has been charged with Unlawful Trafficking in Scheduled Drugs (Class B Felony) and Violation of Conditions of Release (Class E).

He is currently ineligible for bail and awaits scheduling of a court date.

The York County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the case.
