Enfield police chase ends with K9 unit capturing suspect, two stolen vehicles involved

ENFIELD — Early this morning, Enfield Police Department officers responded to a report of suspicious activity involving an SUV abandoned on Rockland Dr. Around 4:45 a.m., upon the officers’ arrival, a second vehicle fled the scene at high speed, leading to a pursuit.

The officers decided to terminate the chase for safety reasons but successfully deployed a tire deflation device.

The second vehicle eventually came to a halt on I91 Southbound, where the occupants exited and ran across the highway.

The EPD’s K9 and drone units were then activated to track down the suspects.

K9 Dunkin, one of the department’s trained police dogs, located one suspect, a juvenile, hiding within Connecticut Department of Transportation property in East Windsor.

The apprehended individual had a record of prior arrests related to stolen vehicles and was arrested and charged accordingly.

Investigations revealed that the SUV left on Rockland Dr. had been stolen from Stafford Springs, while the vehicle involved in the high-speed chase was also identified as stolen from the same street.

The Enfield Police Department is continuing their investigation into the incident and searching for any additional suspects.
