WEYMOUTH — Two individuals were arrested in connection with a financial investigation related to the apparent homicide of Christine Mello, authorities said Thursday.
Weymouth Police, alongside Massachusetts State Police, developed probable cause to charge Mello’s housemate, Kelly Shaw, 44, and Shaw’s associate, John “Jack” Harper, 45, with various financial crimes uncovered during the ongoing investigation, according to Chief Richard Fuller and Norfolk District Attorney Michael W. Morrissey.
“There are no homicide charges in place at this time as the investigation continues,” Morrissey stated. “But we anticipate arraignments on those charges at or after 2 p.m. in the Quincy District Court.”
Shaw, who had been residing with Mello, and Harper, who currently has no permanent address, are expected to face charges including larceny valued over $1,200, uttering forged checks, and other related offenses.
Officials indicated that further details may be revealed during the court proceedings.
