GREENLAND — Members of Exeter Fire Department’s B-shift, including Deputy Chief Jason Fritz, responded to a structure fire at a two-family residence at 14-16 Sanderson Road just before 3 a.m. today.
The Exeter team served as the Rapid Intervention Team, commonly referred to as the RIT team, during the incident.
The RIT team is a group of specially trained firefighters who are on standby at fire scenes to provide immediate assistance to fellow firefighters in distress.
Their critical role involves the rescue of any firefighters who may become trapped, injured, or missing amidst the flames and smoke.
The fire, which engulfed the residence, required a swift and coordinated response from multiple fire departments.
Exeter’s B-shift’s participation under the mutual aid agreement highlights the essential collaboration among fire departments in the region.
There were no immediate reports of injuries to residents or firefighters, and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
