ST. JOHNSBURY — A Hardwick man faces multiple charges after allegedly assaulting law enforcement and hospital staff with a chainsaw at Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital on March 25.
Vermont State Police apprehended 27-year-old Tyler Roy following reports of a man destroying property and attacking staff members.
Troopers from the St. Johnsbury Barracks arrived swiftly at the scene around 5:21 p.m. to find Roy in the parking lot wielding the chainsaw.
During the confrontation, Roy additionally assaulted Trooper Griffin Pearson and two hospital workers, Jaimie Marchbanks, 37, of Lyndon, and Vanessa Gingue, 37, of Waterford.
A third victim, Leo Lacroix, 57, also from Lyndon, was involved in the incident.
Authorities managed to take Roy into custody without further injuries.
He was detained at NVRH for medical evaluations prior to his court appearance.
Roy is scheduled to be cited in Caledonia County Superior Court on Monday, May 6, at 8:30 a.m.
