WATERBURY — A hit-and-run incident on Interstate 89 left a juvenile driver in distress when their vehicle was struck by a truck that subsequently fled the scene, Vermont State Police reported.
The collision occurred on March 20 at approximately 8:07 p.m. near mile marker 62.2 on I-89 southbound.
The 16-year-old victim from Waterbury was operating a 2016 Honda CR-V in the right lane when the passing truck lost control and sideswiped the juvenile’s vehicle, causing it to come to an uncontrolled rest in the traffic lane.
Troopers from the Berlin Barracks responded to the crash site to find that the truck involved had left the area.
Conditions at the time included heavy snow squalls and slippery roads, which may have contributed to the incident.
Authorities are now seeking information on the truck and its driver.
Witnesses or those with knowledge of the event are encouraged to contact Trooper Mae Murdock at the Vermont State Police Berlin Barracks by calling 802-229-9191.
