North Country Career Center excels at Vermont FBLA Conference

NEWPORT — On March 15, the North Country Career Center (NCCC) Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) team showcased their prowess at the Vermont State Leadership Conference held at Champlain College in Burlington.

The NCCC FBLA achieved significant recognition, clinching the 1st place for Largest Percentage Increase in Membership and securing 2nd place in Largest Chapter Membership.

The conference, attended by various industry professionals and guest speakers, proved to be a fruitful platform for the students.

Hannah Erickson, the VT FBLA State Historian and NCCC FBLA President, expressed her enthusiasm for collaborating with Norah Beads and Project HOePpnEr, highlighting these experiences as the peak of her FBLA journey.

Several NCCC students emerged victorious in various competitive events. Travis Driver led in Banking and Financial Systems, Landyn Machado in Introduction to Business Concepts, and the team of Ryder Descheneau, Ben Fearino, and Jason Pelletier in Sports and Entertainment Management.

The conference also witnessed NCCC students clinching second-place finishes in diverse categories, ranging from Computer Game and Simulation Programming by Martina Blodgett to Future Business Leader by Hannah Erickson. Their performance was a testament to their hard work and commitment.

Third-place honors included achievements in Marketing by Lauren Mead and Public Policy and Advocacy by Ben Fearino, among others. The students displayed excellence across a wide spectrum of business and technology disciplines.

The NCCC FBLA’s success was further highlighted by the recognition of Tia Judd as the FBLA 2023-2024 New Advisor of the Year. Her dedication and mentorship were crucial in steering the students towards their impressive outcomes.

The team’s success at the state level has qualified them for the National Leadership Conference in Orlando, Florida, this summer.
