MEDWAY — A local man was arrested Thursday on multiple charges related to a series of overnight car break-ins in the area, according to the Medway Police Department.
John Machado, 25, of Medway, faces ten counts of breaking and entering into a vehicle in the nighttime with the intent to commit a felony.
The arrest follows an investigation into incidents that occurred on March 15 and March 20 in the Pond Street, Maple Street, and Cottage Street neighborhoods.
Machado was arraigned at Wrentham District Court on Friday.
The Medway Police credited the quick arrest to the collaborative efforts of their patrol, detective, and evidence technician divisions.
Sergeant Will White and Officer Drew Harris initiated the investigation on March 16, which led to Machado’s identification during a late-night encounter in the vicinity of the car breaks.
Detective Sergeant Lauren Swarthout, Detective Tom Godino, and Detective Chris Bullen furthered the investigation, gathering information and surveillance video, interviewing additional victims, and strategizing to prevent more incidents.
On March 21, after new car breaks were reported overnight, Sergeant White and Officer John Gasparrini responded, and the detective unit, including evidence technician Sergeant Bob O’Neill, processed the crime scenes.
Later that evening, a search warrant was executed at Machado’s residence by the detective unit, evidence technician Sergeant John Meincke, and the evening patrol shift, which led to the recovery of key evidence and a significant amount of narcotics.
