LITCHFIELD — A brush fire escalated this afternoon behind a residence on Naticook Ave, prompting a swift response from local fire departments.

Litchfield Fire Rescue was dispatched at 12:24 p.m. after reports of a fire that began in a brush area and quickly spread toward a large two-story garage and an enclosed trailer.

The first responders, Engine 1, Forestry 1, and Litchfield Command Unit 1, were met with a rapidly moving blaze, intensified by winds reaching 20-30 mph.

To bolster the initial attack, an additional engine and tanker were called to the scene.

Londonderry Engine 3, along with their battalion chief, and Litchfield Tanker 3 joined the efforts to control the fire which had reached the exterior of the garage.

The combined force of the responding teams managed to quickly extinguish the flames before more significant damage could occur.

Officials confirmed that, despite the potential for a large-scale incident, no injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, and authorities have not released any further details at this time.
