HARTFORD — A 37-year-old man has been arrested and charged with transmitting explicit material to minors after a months-long investigation led by the Hartford Police Department-Criminal Investigations Division.
Brian Michael Kilcoyne of Bozeman, MT, was taken into custody in Montana and is currently facing charges for his involvement in the distribution of explicit content.
Authorities anticipate that additional charges will be filed.
The investigation began in October when Kilcoyne contacted an undercover Hartford investigator posing as a 14-year-old girl.
The conversations between Kilcoyne and the investigator, who is referred to as UC, became increasingly sexual over time, culminating in Kilcoyne sending explicit images of himself.
Kilcoyne, a special education teacher for elementary-aged children in Montana, had planned to travel to New England to meet with UC but did not proceed to Vermont.
The arrest was a collaborative effort involving several law enforcement agencies, including Homeland Security Investigations, Vermont Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC), Montana ICAC, and the Bozeman Police Department.
Currently, Kilcoyne is being held at the Gallatin County jail in Montana with bail set at $200,000.
