Westborough school bus driver arrested on OUI charge with children onboard

WESTBOROUGH — Westborough Police arrested a school bus driver this morning after reports of erratic behavior while children were onboard.

At approximately 7:45 a.m., police responded to concerns regarding a school bus driver’s conduct near 135 E. Main Street.

An investigation led to the arrest of Jane Welch, a 51-year-old Marlborough resident, on charges of operating under the influence (OUI) of liquor for the second offense, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, and child endangerment while OUI.

Authorities commend the individuals who promptly reported the incident, highlighting the community’s role in maintaining safety.

The Westborough Police Department, School Department, and Municipal leaders have reiterated their commitment to child safety, especially in secure environments like school buses.

The Police Department encourages anyone with additional information or concerns about children’s safety to come forward.

Chief Minardi expressed gratitude to the community for their vigilance and collaboration.
