HIGHGATE — A Duffy’s Waste Removal truck overturned on a snowy and icy stretch of Route 78 on Monday morning, injuring the driver.
Easton Garvey, 25, of Highgate, was operating a 2023 International garbage truck eastbound on VT RT 78 at 9:59 a.m. when he lost control of the vehicle.
The truck skidded off the south side of the road due to the treacherous conditions and rolled onto its passenger side.
The Vermont State Police, along with Highgate Fire, Swanton Fire, and Missisquoi Valley Rescue, responded to the scene near 1079 VT RT 78 following the accident.
Garvey, who was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, suffered a hand laceration.
TDI Towing and Repair was called to the scene to remove the damaged garbage truck.
