RUTLAND — Amanda Buchanan, a 36-year-old Rutland resident, was arrested February 29 on three counts of selling cocaine following a collaborative investigation between local and federal agencies.
According to the Vermont Drug Task Force, detectives alongside Field Force Troopers from the Rutland Barracks and the Rutland Town Police Department conducted a raid at the Cortina Inn in Rutland Town.
The arrest concluded a month-long probe into Buchanan’s alleged drug activities at her place of residence.
The joint operation with the Federal Bureau of Investigation involved confidential informants who reportedly purchased cocaine base directly from Buchanan at the inn.
Following her arrest, Buchanan was taken to the Vermont State Police Barracks in Rutland.
The Rutland County State’s Attorney’s Office is prosecuting the case, and Buchanan is scheduled to appear before the Vermont Superior Court – Criminal Division in Rutland at 10 a.m. on April 22 to respond to the charges.
