Driver crashes into Coventry home after medical event

COVENTRY — A 78-year-old Albany man was seriously injured when his car veered off Route 14 and struck a house in Coventry, Vermont State Police said.

Gabriel Machado was headed north when he failed to navigate a slight curve in the road.

Police believe Machado suffered a medical event, causing the car to cross the southbound lane and leave the roadway before hitting the house.

Machado was taken to North Country Hospital by family members with serious but non-life-threatening injuries, police say.

No one in the house was injured, and Wright’s Towing assisted at the scene.
