MATTAPAN — Officers from the B-3 (Mattapan) Anti-Crime Unit apprehended 19-year-old Nyjhon Jones on Monday afternoon, on charges related to firearms possession during an investigation in the area of Walk Hill St and Fottler Rd.
At approximately 3:38 p.m., Jones, a Mattapan resident, was identified by officers as the subject of their investigation.
Dressed in a black hat, ski mask, glasses, jacket, blue jeans, and tan boots, Jones was seen walking with his hands in his pockets, appearing to shield an object in his front waistband.
Upon noticing the officers, Jones showed signs of surprise but continued to cover the object.
Officers approached and detained him after he initially resisted removing his hands from his pockets.
A search revealed a heavy right jacket pocket, where officers found a Hi Point CF .380 firearm, loaded with one round in the chamber and seven rounds in the magazine.
The firearm’s serial number had been obliterated.
Jones now faces charges including unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, and possession of a firearm with an obliterated serial number.
He is scheduled for arraignment at Dorchester District Court.
