PELHAM — A stolen vehicle led to an early morning police pursuit on Monday after the Pelham Police Department received a report of the theft at approximately 12:10 a.m. from a residence on Windham Road.
The homeowner reported seeing their vehicle being driven away and immediately contacted the authorities.
Officers conducted a search but were unable to find the vehicle initially.
About 35 minutes later, at around 12:45 a.m., an officer spotted the stolen vehicle on Hutchinson Bridge Road, parked but seemingly operational.
When the officer attempted to stop the car using emergency lights and sirens, the driver did not comply and tried to evade the police.
The pursuit was eventually called off after the vehicle was last seen on Atwood Road.
Despite losing sight of the car, officers continued their search in the local neighborhoods.
The stolen vehicle was later seen by an officer on Clark Circle, where another attempt to stop it was made, but the driver again failed to yield, leading officers on a chase through several roads before disappearing from view.
The vehicle was eventually found crashed into a yard at the intersection of Dutton Road and Diamond Hill Road, having struck small trees and rolled onto its roof.
No occupants were found inside or in the vicinity of the vehicle.
A K9 unit from the New Hampshire State Police was called in to assist but did not locate anyone.
Additional searches were conducted by patrol units with assistance from the Dracut, MA Police Department, but the suspect remains unidentified and at large.

In light of the incident, the department is reminding residents to secure their vehicles by removing valuables, taking the keys, and locking the doors.
