BOSTON — In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, members of the Boston Police Drug Control Units, Brockton Police Drug Control Unit, and the Drug Enforcement Administration arrested 48-year-old Randolph resident Robert Smythwick on Tuesday, February 20, on multiple firearm and drug charges.
The arrest was the culmination of an ongoing investigation targeting drug-related activities, which led to the execution of search warrants at various locations in Hyde Park and Brockton.
The extensive search yielded a substantial haul of illicit substances, including 430 grams of cocaine, 69 grams of crack cocaine, 18 grams of fentanyl, 35 pressed fentanyl pills, three Percocet pills, and approximately 11 ounces of marijuana.
Law enforcement officers also seized two firearms: a Smith & Wesson with a magazine holding sixteen rounds, and a SCCY firearm containing three rounds, along with two spare magazines and twenty-five additional rounds of ammunition.
Additionally, the operation recovered $73,860 in U.S. currency believed to be connected to the drug trade.
Smythwick now faces a raft of serious charges, including trafficking class A and B substances, unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition, possession of a large capacity firearm and feeding device, and possession with intent to distribute class A, B, and D substances.
He is slated for arraignment at West Roxbury District Court, where he will answer to the charges laid against him.
