MANCHESTER — A routine patrol turned into a high-speed chase early Wednesday morning when a Manchester police officer spotted a vehicle reported stolen just minutes earlier.
At around 7 a.m., the officer noticed the car near the intersection of Union and Webster streets.
As the police cruiser approached, the driver of the stolen vehicle sped up and turned onto Clarke St. The pursuit continued onto Elm St, with the suspect hitting speeds of around 60 mph and driving on the wrong side of the road.
Due to safety concerns, the officer discontinued the chase.
However, the vehicle was soon found parked and empty in the TRU Hotel parking lot at 135 Spring St. Observing two individuals crossing Commercial St, the police used surveillance footage to confirm that they had exited the stolen car.
Authorities apprehended 35-year-old Richard Hedrich of Manchester and 25-year-old Jennifer Sennott of Allenstown.
They were arrested without further incident.
Hedrich faces multiple charges including Reckless Conduct-Deadly Weapon, Theft by Unauthorized Taking- Motor Vehicle, Driving After Suspension, Disobeying an Officer, Conduct After an Accident, and Resisting Arrest.
Sennott was charged with Resisting Arrest.
Both suspects are currently being held pending their arraignment.
