POWNAL — A two-vehicle collision on US Route 7 near Stewart’s resulted in no injuries and a temporary road closure, according to Vermont State Police.

The accident occurred at 11:41 a.m. when Wayne Williams, 57, of Stephentown, NY, driving a 2019 Honda HRV, pulled onto US Route 7 in front of a 2022 Nissan Altima operated by James Bardsley, 63, of North Adams, MA.

Williams, who was wearing his seatbelt, caused the collision with Bardsley, also belted at the time.

Weather conditions included snow flurries and wet roads, which may have contributed to the crash.

Both vehicles sustained significant damage, with the Honda incurring driver’s side damage and the Nissan suffering front-end damage.

Airbags were deployed in the incident, although both drivers escaped injury.

The crash led to a brief shutdown of US Route 7 as the involved vehicles were cleared from the scene by Walt’s Service Center.

The Pownal Fire Department and EMS assisted Vermont State Police during the response and road closure.

Authorities have since reopened US Route 7 to traffic.

The Vermont State Police are continuing to investigate the accident.
