NASHUA — A two-vehicle collision on the F.E. Everett Turnpike South led to the arrest of a Nashua man on charges of driving under the influence and reckless driving on Feb. 15.
New Hampshire State Police Trooper Evan Puopolo, alongside Nashua Fire and EMS and the New Hampshire Department of Transportation, responded to the scene near Exit 1 at around 3:40 p.m.
The crash involved a 2011 white BMW 3-Series driven by 23-year-old James Eppolito of Nashua, and a 2019 white Lexus RX450H operated by 62-year-old Horng Ay of Lowell, Massachusetts.
Both vehicles sustained heavy damage and blocked all lanes, forcing the roadway to close for approximately 40 minutes.
An initial investigation indicated Eppolito was traveling at an excessive speed, lost control, hit a guardrail, and subsequently struck Ay’s Lexus.
Eppolito, who refused medical treatment, was taken into custody after a roadside investigation.
He was released on personal recognizance bail and is expected to appear in Nashua District Court in March.
The occupants of the Lexus were transported to St. Joseph’s Hospital for minor injuries.
Authorities are continuing to investigate the incident and urge anyone with information to contact Trooper Puopolo.
