BOSTON — A local man was sentenced yesterday to a decade behind bars for his role in distributing significant amounts of methamphetamine in the area.
Joshua Westbrook, 26, received a 10-year prison term followed by five years of supervised release from U.S.
District Court Judge Angel Kelley after pleading guilty in April to one count of distribution and possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine weighing 50 grams or more.
The conviction stems from a November 2021 incident in Dorchester where Westbrook handed over more than 360 grams of pure methamphetamine to a cooperating witness.
Authorities noted that during the exchange, Westbrook was armed with multiple knives, including one resembling a machete.
Later that month, law enforcement intercepted a parcel intended for Westbrook containing an additional 440 grams of the drug.
Throughout the investigation, officials seized around 500 grams more methamphetamine, a machete, and a billy club from the defendant.
The case was brought forward by Acting United States Attorney Joshua S.
Levy, with the announcement including acknowledgments to Jodi Cohen, Special Agent in Charge of the FBI’s Boston Division, and Commissioner Carol Mici of the Massachusetts Department of Correction.
