FAIRFIELD — The body of a man found in the woods of Fairfield has been positively identified as 59-year-old Timothy “Timmy” Jettie, who had been reported missing since Dec. 10, according to the Chief Medical Examiner’s Office.
Following an autopsy to confirm identity, officials stated that the cause and manner of Jettie’s death are still pending further testing, including toxicology results.
However, authorities have said that the death does not appear to be suspicious or criminal.
The Vermont State Police were alerted to the discovery of the body near 850 Barry Rd. on Feb. 6 at around 2:09 p.m. after a member of the public found what seemed to be human remains.
The site is close to Castle and Menard roads, where police and search teams had been looking for Jettie.
The extensive search operation had been active since Jettie’s disappearance, with the latest sighting recorded on Oct. 26 at the Fairfield Market.
Despite efforts by various rescue and search teams, Jettie remained missing until this recent discovery.
Investigators continue to seek information and urge the public to check any game cameras or surveillance footage from the area that might provide additional clues.
