Worcester police probe fatal shooting on Shannon Street

WORCESTER — Detectives in Worcester are investigating an early morning shooting on Shannon St that left a seventeen-year-old dead.

According to officials, Worcester Police officers responded to a ShotSpotter alert on Feb. 12 at approximately 3:16 a.m. Upon arrival, officers found evidence of gunfire but did not immediately locate a victim.

The investigation led officers to check area hospitals where they discovered a seventeen-year-old male with gunshot wounds.

He was pronounced dead shortly after being found.

Authorities have not released the identity of the victim as the investigation continues.

The Worcester Police Department is urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward.

Tips can be sent anonymously by texting 274637 with the message “TIPWPD” followed by the information.
