Single vehicle rollover in Newport Center results in injuries

NEWPORT CENTER — A rollover accident involving a single vehicle yesterday resulted in minor injuries for the driver and a juvenile passenger. The incident took place at the intersection of Cross Road and Niles Road in Newport Center.

At approximately 6:37 p.m., the Vermont State Police were called to the scene. The driver, identified as 33-year-old Tieara Hall from Albany, was traveling north on Cross Road when she lost control of her vehicle.

Unable to navigate a sharp left-hand turn at Niles Road, the 2023 Nissan Rogue veered off the road to the right, rolling over before coming to a stop on its roof in a field.

Hall and the juvenile passenger, both wearing seat belts, suffered minor, non-life-threatening injuries.

They were transported to North Country Hospital by Newport EMS for treatment. The vehicle sustained total damage, with all panels affected.

The Newport Center Fire Department and Rays Auto were also present at the scene to assist. The Vermont State Police has said they are conducting a thorough investigation into the cause of the crash.
