NEWPORT — A report of an unresponsive individual at a Newport residence led to a significant drug seizure in Claremont on Jan. 23.
Newport Police and Fire Departments responded to a call at 62 Sunapee Street, where emergency medical personnel found Maryanne Baldauff, 33, deceased.
The cause and manner of her death are under investigation by the Chief Medical Examiner’s office, though officials have stated there is no public safety threat.
Following the incident, Newport investigators obtained evidence that resulted in a search warrant for Lisa Giannatti’s residence on Prospect Street in Claremont.
The 35-year-old Claremont resident was found in possession of large quantities of suspected Methamphetamine, Fentanyl, Crack Cocaine, prescription pills, and drug paraphernalia.
Giannatti faces charges including Possession of Controlled Drugs with Intent to Deliver and Conspiracy to Commit Sale of Controlled Drugs.
These charges are enhanced due to the quantity of drugs, the proximity to a school zone, and Giannatti’s prior drug-related conviction.
The Claremont Police Department’s Special Response Team executed the search warrants, and Giannatti was held without bail at the Sullivan County House of Corrections pending arraignment.
She is also under review by New Hampshire Probation and Parole for a possible probation violation.
Additionally, Newport Police have an active arrest warrant for Brittany Nolin, 33, of Newport, who is charged with Falsifying Physical Evidence.
Her bail will be set following her apprehension.
The joint investigative task force continues to examine Baldauff’s death and the suspected drug trafficking activities.
Further arrests and charges are expected.
