MANCHESTER — A 17-year-old male was arrested early Saturday morning after leading police on a brief pursuit in a stolen vehicle, Manchester Police said.
On Jan. 20, at about 1:40 a.m., a patrol officer spotted a car that fit the description of one recently reported stolen near the intersection of Second St and Granite St.
The officer attempted to stop the vehicle at Dover St and Clinton St, but the driver failed to comply and a chase ensued.
The pursuit ended at a dead end on Fourth St, where the suspect crashed into a bollard barricade and then fled on foot.
Police officers chased the teenager and subsequently apprehended him.
The suspect, whose name has not been released due to his age, faces multiple charges, including Receiving Stolen Property, Disobeying a Police Officer, Resisting Arrest, and Conduct After an Accident.
Manchester Police continue their investigation into a rash of car thefts, focusing on the city’s West Side.
They are asking for the public’s assistance and encourage anyone with information to contact them at 603-668-8711.
Authorities also remind residents to take measures to secure their vehicles, including using surveillance cameras and anti-theft devices like “The Club.”
They also advise consulting with auto manufacturers or conducting research on ways to prevent theft specific to their vehicle’s make and model.
