NEWPORT — Katelyn Deslandes, 25, of Island Pond, received a two to four-year sentence in a plea agreement for a fatal accident that claimed the lives of two teenagers. The crash took place on Route 105 in Charleston, on February 16, 2022.

Initially facing two felony grossly negligent driving charges, the plea reduced the charges to negligent driving resulting in death.

At the January 2 sentencing, the judge imposed the maximum under the plea deal, sentencing her to two to four years. However, most of the sentence was suspended, with a 120-day jail term ordered.

The two individuals who died in the crash were Logan Cota, 18, of Charleston, who was driving the second vehicle, and Taylor Warren, 18, of Lunenburg, who was a passenger.

Deslandes sustained significant injuries and was initially transported to North Country Hospital, and later flown via helicopter to Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center.

Police say she mentioned she might have passed out prior to the crash when she was found at the scene. The plea agreement excluded evidence of drug impairment at the sentencing.
