SUTTON — A routine vehicle incident led to the arrest of 34-year-old Alicia Mitchell of Sutton on Tuesday morning.
Vermont State Police from the St. Johnsbury Barracks responded to a call at approximately 10:05 a.m. on Dec. 12, where they found a vehicle off the road on Hospital Dr near Shippee Eye Care.
The operator, identified as Mitchell, was found to have an active arrest warrant from August for failing to appear at an arraignment.
During the encounter, troopers discovered that Mitchell had court-ordered conditions not to drive a motor vehicle and that her driver’s license was criminally suspended.
Furthermore, Lyndonville Police Department informed the troopers that Mitchell was also wanted for allegedly shoplifting at Kinney Drugs in Lyndonville earlier that morning at 9:52 a.m., violating additional conditions of release prohibiting her from entering the store.
Mitchell was apprehended and taken to the St. Johnsbury Barracks for processing, where she caused damage to property in the processing room.
After processing, Mitchell was brought before Judge Michael Kainen at the Caledonia County Superior Court.
The judge waived the $100 bail from the arrest warrant and released her under new conditions.
Mitchell is scheduled for a flash citation at the Caledonia County Superior Court on Dec. 13 at approximately 12:30 p.m. to face charges from both the Vermont State Police and the Lyndonville Police Department.
