St. Albans Sheriff’s Department employees receive threatening calls

ST. ALBANS — An investigation is underway after employees of the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department received multiple threatening phone calls, Vermont State Police said.

The threats, made by an unidentified female caller, occurred over a dozen times between Dec. 7 and Dec. 8.

The caller specifically targeted employees of the Sheriff’s Department, issuing threats of violence.

Vermont State Police initiated the investigation on Dec. 9 following reports from the sheriff’s department.

As of now, the suspect remains unknown and the case is actively being investigated.

Authorities have not disclosed the nature of the threats or if they believe the calls are connected to a larger threat to the community.

The Sheriff’s Department has not commented on whether they have increased security measures following the incident.

The Vermont State Police are urging anyone with information to come forward and contact the VSP St. Albans barracks.
